WILD NORTHERN INUITS
Take a Walk on the Wild Side
Training
Reward based training is the key when it comes to training these dogs.
The breed are very intelligent, sometimes to clever for their own good.Although trainable they are prone to doing something once maybe twice then losing interest much preferring to cause mischief.Reward based training needs to be varied and interesting done in short regular sessions.
Many of the dogs have already completed their Good Citizens Award and some are already registered as Pets as Therapy Dogs. The possibilities for these dogs are endless, ranging from guide dogs to search and rescue and more. Patience,Practice,Persistence and Praise is the key!
Health
On the whole this is a very hardy breed although some Northern Inuit's can suffer from sensitive stomachs as already mentioned in diet.
Retained testicles can occasinally occur in males.
Like many large breeds they can suffer from Hip Dysplacia, although in accordance with The Northern Inuit Society's Code of Ethics all Breeding Dogs and Bitches born on or after January 2006 are to be hip and elbow scored with a satisfactory score reached before being bred from.
