What to expect (A light hearted guide for new owners)

Your chosen breeder will have been a great source of invaluable information, but what about the things they don't tell you

We were only ever going to own one NI,but we are now up to four and I wouldn't have it any other way, it's been a life changing experience(sounds dramatic but true) so here's my tips on what to expect. You will as an NI owner acquire new interests, hobbies and skills regardless if you want them or not some of which can incur costs some are free.
Public speaking..Doesn't matter if you are the shrinking violet you'll soon become used to relaying information about the breed to total strangers
Time management....A valuable skill to learn as a short trip to the shops or leisurely stroll will now take soooo much longer as people want to ask about your gorgeous fur baby
Photography... Inside all NI owners hides a budding David Bailey, hours spent trying to get the perfect shot and maybe even making it into the NI calendar spurs you on, now your digital camera may have been fine but don't be surprised if you find yourself purchasing an all singing better model.
Computer literacy...you'll soon learn how to upload, download, post pics, links etc
Culinary Skills...regardless if you are a competent cook or could burn a salad don't be surprised if you discover new Ingredients, recipes and experiment all in the name of keeping little pupster happy.Liver cake, tripe etc spring to mind.Possible costs...better blender
Language and other cultures...usually when researching names, you'll be surprised how many different languages you stumble across and how to say Wolf in all of them
Diet and nutrition...goes with the territory of owning an NI this often results in gaining a degree in poo-ology. A deep sense of pride can be felt when your baby passes the perfect poo, sad but true.
Fashion...expect a wardrobe overhaul, your fave little black dress will be replaced by Jeans/t shirts/fleeces, strappy sandals replaced by trainers/wellies/walking boots
Cars...the 2 seater sports car you've always wanted will be replaced by the need for something large enough to allow your little darling to travel in comfort. Remember the breed is addictive rarely stopping at one so take this into account when looking at boot space
The great outdoors...your travel horizons will broaden if you attend the shows this results in needing camping equipment, beware though you may get hooked and go the whole hog and buy a caravan, on the plus side you get a better understanding of nature can easily identify sheep poo, ant hills and pitch your tent accordingly, other useful gadgets include Sat navs etc.

This list is by no means complete but I hope it serves as a useful guide to newbie's about the mad crazy world of NI ownership
